Changsha Economic and Technological
Development Zone was approved as state-level development zone in
February 2000. The zone now has a population of 43,000 and a developed
area of 12.33 square kilometers.
Geographical Location
Changsha Economic & Technological Development Zone is situated
in the township of Xingsha in the eastern suburb of Changsha, capital
city of Hunan Province.
Climate The zone falls into the
East-Asian monsoon climatic zone and has a moist sub-tropical monsoon
climate with distinct four seasons. The average annual temperature is 16
-18 centigrade and the average annual rainfall between 1,200 -1,500
millimeters.
Communication and
Transportation
Beijing-Guangzhou railway complex runs 5 kilometers west of the zone.
Beijing-Shenzhen State Highways No. 107 and Chengdu-Xiamen No. 319
converge here. Beijing-Zhuhai Speedway, constitute a well-established
highway network extending in all four directions. CETDZ is 11 kilometers
from Changsha Wharf along Xiangjiang River and 8 kilometers from
downtown Changsha, Changsha Railway Station, and Changsha Huanghua
International Airport.
Industrial Structure
Five major industries have
come into shape in the zone, namely, the sophisticated machinery
processing and manufacturing industry; electronics and information
industry; building materials industry; food and beverage industry;
printing industry.

bio-engineering and products; high-efficiency and energy-saving
technologies and products; integrated optic-electric-mechanic
technologies and products; environmental protection technologies and
products; chemical technologies and products; infrastructure building;

processes and materials based on traditional industries, and other new
and high-tech industries.
