Dalian Economic & Technological
Development Area, or DDA, is established in October, 1984 as the
first national economic and technological development area approved by the
State Council, enjoying both preferential policies for coastal economic
and technological development area and those for “revitalizing the Northeast
Old Industrial Base" and implement a new administrative system that follows
the international codes of practice. The aggregate economic volume of DDA
is constantly expanding; the GDP reached 56.3 billion Yuan in 2006. Major
industry categories such as petrochemical industry, new material, electronic
& information, electromechanical integration, metal products, auto parts
and food processing have become the pillar industries in DDA. The orientations
of DDA’s industrial functions are: a technologically advanced industrial
base, a hi-tech industrial base, a modern logistic industrial base and a
major port. DDA Administration Committee is a detached office of Dalian
Municipal Government and performs the municipal administrative extent of
authority. DDA passed the certification of ISO14001 Environmental Standard
System in 1999, and was entitled “ISO14000 National Demonstration Zone"
by SEPA in May of 2000. In 2005 DDA awarded the certification of ISO9001
Quality Management Standard System. DDA encourages the following industries:
auto parts, electronics, information technology, machinery, manufacturing
and other hi-tech, energy saving and environmental friendly projects. In
addition, DDA has set up industrial parks such as Jinshi IT Industrial Park, JL Optoelectronics
Industrial Park, Molding Industrial Park, Dagushan Ship-building and Auxiliary
Industrial Area, Petrochemical Industrial Area and etc.
