Located at the coast of Bohai Sea,
Tanggu is known as “the intersecting point of nine rivers and the ocean".
It is also the entrance
to two of the largest cities in China, Beijing and Tianjin. In the
history, Tanggu was the birthplace of traditional machinery industry in Northern China.
But in recent year,
Tanggu has been gradually evolved into the modernized region through
establishments of high tech industrial groups such as marine chemical industry, electronics,
information technology,
telecommunication, biotech and pharmaceutical, oil production and refinery.
One of the top ten seaports in the world is situated right inside
Tanggu Marine High-Tech Development Area,
making the area an important outlet
for international trade and one of the key water gateways to the world
in China. With the increasingly fast pace of China's opening up, Tanggu
has been developed as an unique modern international harbor district, with
export oriented industries as the flagship sector and integrated
service industries, such as infrastructure development, business
consulting, trade services, banking, tourism and logistics, as the
supporting elements. Tianjin Tanggu
Marine High-Tech Development Area was initial established in June. 1992,
then promoted to the state level high-tech development zone 1995. It has
been the only state level high-tech development region that is clearly
specialized in housing the marine high-tech industries.
Tanggu Marine High-Tech Development Area
occupies a territory of 4.54 sqm.
