Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone is one of the
fastest growing industrial parks in China. "Motor City" is its
well-known nickname. With the establishment of Kia's China assembly
plants, Yancheng has become an important industrial base for
manufacturing auto parts and auto equipment.
Geographic Location
The Yancheng Economic & Technological Development Area is located in the
northeast part of Jiangsu province, the province that contributes the
most to nation's GDP. It is on the coast of yellow sea and one hundred
fifty kilometers north of Yangtze river. The Grand Canal passes right
through the region. Yancheng is about three hour driving distance to
Shanghai or Nanjing, and within two hours to Nantong, another key
industrial city in the northern Jiangsu province.
Climate
The average annual temperature is 16 centigrade, with the lowest
record at -15 centigrade and the highest at 39 centigrade. The average
annual rainfall is about 800 millimeters. Duo to its closeness to both
the Yangtze river and the yellow sea, Yancheng is among the those
cities that have most favorable climates for living in China.
Road and Highways
Yancheng is among the urban cities that have the densest highway network
in China. Two nation's transportation arteries, Beijing to Shanghai
Expressway and Yanhai Freeway that extends along the east coast, pass
through here. Several local-scale freeways have also been
constructed to connect Yancheng and its neighboring cities.
Railway Network
Yancheng to Beijing express services just commenced operation in recent
years. Travelers and cargos can virtually reach any rail stations via
several hubs in the route.
Harbor and Facility
One of the satellite seaports of Shanghai Harbor, Dafeng ports, is
situated inside one of Yancheng city's municipal district. Port of
Nantong is only 150km away. Shanghai main seaport in the south and
Lianyungang port in the north are also within driving distance. Yancheng
is well connected with the world through seaway.
Airport Transportation
The renovated Yancheng Airport now serves daily flight to several major
cities in China, including Beijing, Nantong and Guangzhou. It also
serves several charted non-stop flights each week to Seoul, South Korea.

Human Resources
There are five accredited universities situated in the city, covering a
variety of majors including business, engineering, medical and
education. Over ten thousand engineers, scientists and management
professionals from all over the world are now working in Yancheng
city, a large portion of them are employed by the companies operating in
the development zone. More and more professionals are moving to Yancheng
from larger cities like Shanghai and Nanjing.
Industrial Structure
The core industries in Yancheng Economic and Technological Development
Zone are automobile manufacturing and auto parts auto equipment
production, although it welcomes other suitable industries to join the
business family. Textile, material, apparels and shoes, industrial
equipment and certain service businesses are among the top list of
sectors.
