This world's most famous "death road" is located in
northern Yungas of Bolivia, South American, namely "North Yungas
Highway". Most drivers who had experienced driving on this road were
terrified. It is reported that serious accidents have been happening
here frequently, causing hundreds of deaths each year. |

This is the location to
the most detrimental accident in Bolivia's history, where a bus with
over passengers on board overturned into to the valley in 1983. The Pam
America Development Bank awarded the title of "world's most dangerous
highway" to this road. The "death road" is located on the east side of
the Andes mountain. There were no highways in the region originally. A
war was fought between Bolivia and Paraguay from 1932 and 1935.
The "death road" was built by the prisoners from Paraguay. The "death
road" is 60 kilometer long with an elevation difference reaching as much
as 3270 meters. The condition of the entire road is very poor. It is not
only extremely narrow but also badly rugged. |
