It is highly recommended that you pack as light as possible because most
if not all travel necessities can be bought in China at really cheap
prices. The following is the packing list we would suggest.
The passport with a valid visa page and all other necessary travel
documents, identifications that can be used for the purposes of visa
verification.
Casual outdoor clothing suitable for the weather condition during your
travel period. A pair of relaxing walk shoes is recommended. Many tours
involve significant walking, sometimes even on rough surfaces. Many
attractions are susceptible to extreme weathers such as excessive
sunshine, heavy wind and rain. Even in the Forbidden City, where ancient
buildings are dominate attractions, you still have to walk through a
number of large open spaces. Most Temples in China have huge courtyards
between halls and pagodas.
Carry On luggage for air travel in China is limited to 2 pieces for
first class and one piece for business and economy classes. The
dimensions of each may not exceed 20X40 X55cm and the total weight of
the above two pieces must be under 5kg. The overweight portion has to be
checked in.
Wallet with credit cards, traveler's checks an so on.
Airline, Cruise or Train tickets if available
First aid kit with common medicines and some useful health supplements
for traveler such as vitamins.
Insect repellent, especially during summer months and if you are
planning to visit rural areas.
Depending on the season you are traveling, you may want to prepare
some protective items such as hat, Sunscreen lotions, lip creams and
sunglasses. If you are going to the places with high elevation such as
Tibet, parts of Sichuan, Yunnan and Xinjiang provinces, these items are
vital to protect your skin and eyes as the high altitude tends to allow
the solar radiation to strike the earth very intensely.
Address and telephone book. A list of commonly used e-mails, mailing
addresses and telephone numbers could be very helpful in case you need
them. It would be wise to only carry a short list with you instead a
heavy book like what you typically use at home.
Itinerary with confirmation numbers, addresses and phone numbers of
the places where you are going to stay.
Try not to pack or bring valuables such as expensive jewelries and
watches.
A brief medical records, if any, for use in the emergent situations.
It is not necessary to bring any bathroom items such as toothbrush,
toothpaste, shampoo etc. All hotels in China provide such items free of
charge.
If you are planning to involve in rather adventurous activities in
China like mountain climbing and remote camping, it would be a good idea
to take your own light weight sleeping bag and travel towels along with
a reasonable supply of tissues, flashlights and other personal
toiletries. |
