There are two major airports in Shanghai, they are Shanghai Pudong international airport and
Hongqiao Shanghai airport. Many direct international flights are
available between Shanghai and major cities worldwide.
Traveling from Shanghai to Beijing is very convenient by air. There is a
Beijing-Shanghai or Shanghai-Beijing flight available every 30 minutes
in the Hongqiao airport. In addition. There is a special ticketing
counter at the airport, exclusively selling tickets for Beijing Shanghai
flights.
Hong Kong Shanghai traveling is equally convenient in Shanghai. There
are over 10 daily flights serving Hong Kong Shanghai route. Hong Kong
Shanghai flights are operated at Pudong International Airport.
Passengers must go to international departure to check in their Shanghai
- Hong Kong flights.
Shanghai Airport - Shanghai Pudong International Airport
Occupying an area of 40 square kilometers, Shanghai Pudong International Airport is
located in the new Pudong district, which is to the east of Shanghai downtown, 30km
drive from city center, 40km from Shanghai Hongqiao airport. After opening of
the second terminal in 2008, Shanghai Pudong international airport now has
capacities of serving 300,000 flights and 36,500,000 passengers annually.
Shanghai Airport - HongQiao International Airport
Shanghai HongQiao International Airport is located in the west part of Shanghai
city, only 13kms form city center. Shanghai Hongqiao Airport has been in
operation for many decades and once was the busiest airport in China. Occupying
an area of 820,000 square meters, the Hongqiao airport has capacities of serving 8 million passengers
annually. This airport has fifty waiting areas in two terminals, including
several VIP lounges. There are 540 daily flights flying in and out the Hongqiao
airport.
Ground Transportations to Shanghai Airports
Both Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao Shanghai Airport are virtually connected
with highway 1 and highway 20, with a driving time of around 45 minutes. Direct
shuttle services between two Shanghai airports are available every 10 minutes.
As the HongQiao Shanghai airport is very close to the city center, tourists can easily
get there by taking taxi cabs that are available everywhere in the city.
There are several options to get to the Shanghai Pudong International Airport from the
city of Shanghai.
1. Take taxi cabs to Shanghai Pudong Airport from where you are. The trip
typically costs 150 to 250 yuan.
2. Take subway route 2 to Long Yang station, then change to route 3,
Shanghai airport line. You will be at Shanghai Pudong International Airport in about 40 minutes.
3. Drive to Shanghai Pudong airport directly by taking Inner-ring Road, Lushan Road, Beltway
Highway (A20) and then A1 Highway.
4. Go to Long Yang Road first and then take a taxi to Shanghai Pudong airport for about about 80 yuan.
There is newly added transportation to Shanghai Pudong International
Airport, i.e., the maglev train. It is fast but does not quite reach the city.
Here are maglev's operation information:
Operating hours: 7:00am-21:00pm, one train every 15 minutes
Maglev boarding location on the city end: Long Yang station. 2100 Long Yang Road, near
Baiyang road, exit of the Long Yang subway station.
Maglev Pudong airport boarding location: on the east side of terminal A, connected directly with 300m
corridor.
Maglev Ticketing: regular one way ticket: 50 yuan, regular round trip ticket 80
yuan; VIP one way ticket: 100 yuan, VIP round trip ticket: 160 yuan. |
