As a transport junction connecting the east and west, it possesses a vast modern and three-dimensional communication network consisting of flights, railroads and highways. Currently, Xi'an has flights to and from more than 60 cities in China and other countries. In Xian China, the city airport is Xianyang International Airport. Approximately 50km from the city center. Xi'an train station is situated in the north of the town. This is a major stop for trains heading either west or east and the line actually splits here. Some trains head north to Beijing and others east to Shanghai. Xi'an is a highway traffic junction second only to Beijing. There are nine national highways passing through the city of Xian.

Xian International Airport is located in Xian Yang City, 13 kilometers from Xian's city center.

The construction of Xian Xianyang International Airport symbolizes the rapid development of the aviation industry in China. The airport covers an area of over 1300 acres. Xian airport's spacious concourse provides a refreshing openness not normally found in other international airports, and creates an enjoyable trip right from the beginning. Since December. 2007, Xian airport has been serving 139 routes to over 60 domestic and 11 international cities and regions including Tokyo, Nagoya, Bangkok, Seoul, Hong Kong and Macau. Started December 2008, China Eastern Airlines operates a weekly charter flight to Taipei. Xian airport has a capacity of handling 11.5 million passengers annually. The most frequent flights are Shanghai Xian and Xian Beijing.

There are two terminals in Xian International Airport, T1 and T2, covering a total area of hundred thousand square meters. T1 was just put into operation in 2007, serving primarily domestic flights. Airlines that uses Terminal one include China Southern Airlines (CZ), Xiamen Airlines (MF), Sichuan Airlines (3U) and Chongqing Airlines (OQ).

T2 serves most domestic and all international flights. Nine airlines operates in terminal 2: Air China (CA), Hainan Airlines (HU), Shenzhen Airlines (ZH), Shanghai Airlines (FM), Shandong Airlines (SC), East Star Airlines (8C), Lucky Air (8L), Kunpeng Air (VD) and Grand China Express (GS). Check-in and departure are on the second floor while the arrival is  on the first floor.

Airport Buffet Restaurant: Located on the east part of T2's second floor, it can seat 350 people for dining and offers food to passengers inconvenienced by flight delay.

Airport Shishang Restaurant: Located at the west side of T2's international departure hall, this restaurant focuses on Chinese food and simple western style food.

Banquet service is also available. The main foods are traditional Chinese cuisines, as well as local snacks, coffee and tea.

Airport Cafeteria: This cafeteria offers food service to independent tourist. The menu includes Chinese dishes, western food, snacks and fruit. It is located on the 2nd Floor in T2's Waiting Hall.

Guibin Restaurant: Located in T1, it is mainly offers buffet dinner and high-grade banquet.
